Been a while

I've been busy with the aquaponics project lately. Once I reach a stopping point with that, then I'll get back to the fumes.

Fired up the genny for a bit too

Got the generator running again for a bit. Ran a battery charger and topped off my deep cycle battery. Back to the original setup, 1/2" air and 1/2" fumes lines.

Cranked the V8 again today

Had a guy come over who hadn't seen it run yet, but was plenty interested.  Fired right up!  I mean fire!  :)  the air compressor behind the motor had a plastic label catch fire. :)  no biggie.  Shut the motor down.  Put out the fire. Fired up the V8 again. Ran for about 30 seconds before killing it.

I need to hook up a cooling system so I can run it longer run times.

Can't wait to run one of these motors down the road.  :) 

Lights in the shop...

I've got 3 of the 1600 lumen (22w actual, 100w equiv) LED lights with the simple shiny metal clamp on work lamps for lights. Just got those in and installed last night. Thanks again to the contributors for making that happen.
Here's a pic of them up in the ceiling. I have the 2 you can see and one behind the air handler, which reflects off of the back wall. I'm really happy about getting these in. Was frustrating being restricted by hours that you can work because its a pain to see on overcast days, much less in the dark. :)

Kart in shop now!

Finally got things out of the way and the kart loaded in there. Reattached the swingarm to the chassis. After a run to the scrap yard w/other stuff I can get on this thing running on fumes.

Air handler hung

After replacing our upstairs A/C in the house, I hung it up in the shop as the blower and heater sections are still good.  I've needed it out of the floor so I can get a car or go kart in there to work on converting next.  I've been flip flopping between the 78TA or my kids off road cart to do next.

Y'all let me know which you think I should do next.

Regular work took over

I had to go put in a lot of hours, doing my regular job of helping folks with data networks.  I did however get to start the V8 a few times over the past few weeks for several folks.  That's always fun to see the expressions on their faces when they get to hear the power that motor makes.  It always removes doubters who think these things can't make power under fumes.  It seems to always be one of those seeing is believing moments for them.  I get excited too because I want to work on this stuff 24x7 until its done.  But, alas there are bills to pay.

Another good thing that I got to do today was build a ramp to allow cars to be driven into my shop.  So I think when my mother gets here in a couple of weeks with her 3/4 ton truck, I'll get to pull my race car trailer up the hill and allow the 78TA to be rolled out of it and into the shop.  Then I'll get to work on making that thing run on fumes and I'll finally have my first driver.

If I can get enough hours into my go-kart before that time comes, then I'll try to do a quick conversion on it and have it running before the Trans Am.  Here's to hoping I'll have the time to make it happen.
